Small Groups and Study Opportunities

The Church on Oakland Park values learning, critical thinking, and taking active ownership of our faith. And we believe that learning happens best in community.

Check out some of our study opportunities and fellowship groups going on now. We'd love to have you join us!

Heretics Club

heretics_edited.jpg

Heretics Club is a community of folks who are willing to ask the hard questions about the faith, the world, and what they've been taught to believe. No question or topic is off limits as we work together to construct an authentic faith we can honestly believe in.

We regularly hold TikTok theology nights, where we share and talk about our favorite spirituality and religious focused TikTok videos.

Heretics Club is unabashedly open and affirming to LGBTQ+ folks. We meet at the church on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month around 6pm. You'll find us gathered outside as often as the weather allows - in the grass under the trees, or gathered around a fire pit.

Make Deeper Connections

Book Discussions

We regularly host online book discussions that allow us to dig deeper into how our faith connects to real world issues and topics. Together we've discussed books on racism and the intersection of queer identity and the Church, as well as seasonal studies around Advent and Lent.

The next book discussion begins May 18 on the book Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians by Austen Hartke. This book offers a glimpse into the experience of transgender people of faith and presents a scriptural perspective for expanding our understanding of gender.
